Frequently asked questions

Do I need to treat the leather of my Billy Goat Designs bag? If so, what with?

By treating your leatherbag, it will last longer and look better. We've been told by customers that they have used saddle soap and dubbin. That said, we recommend and sell a wonderful product called Renapur which you will find in the Leather Care category of our eBay store. Renapur is very light and easy to apply and will help to water-proof the outside of your bag. We also sell our own similar product called Billy Goat Designs Leather Balsam. Please Contact Us to enquire about purchasing our Leather Balsam.

I want to have my bag posted to me. How much does it cost?

For postage costs, please refer to the eBay listing in our eBay Store for the product you're interested in. We send all our parcels by Registered Post and we also offer Express Post within Australia. eBay also provides international postage rates, or you are welcome to contact us by email or send us a message on our Contact Us page

My bag has quite a distinctive earthy smell. Will this fade over time?

Our range of leather bags is made from goat leather which is know for having quite a distinctive earthy smell initially. The leather is relatively unprocessed and no nasty chemicals are used in the tanning process. Most of our customers love the smell though some people find it quite off-putting. It seems to be a very personal thing. We take the view that if you're going to buy a leather bag, you can expect it smell like leather.

For those who don't like the initial smell of the leather, rest assured that it will fade over the first 4 - 6 weeks of regular use. There is not much you can do to speed up the process although gently rolling and crushing the leather will help to open the fibres and this will certainly help.
